[...] Paul and I met, as I said in that first essay, online in iLink Writers in the early 1990s. We’ve been in each other’s physical presence only two times during our entire friendship — once in 1995 in San Francisco for less than a week and once in Berlin in 2003 for about two weeks, when Paul invited me into his home. Back then I was much more committed to blogging than I am now, so I wrote about that 2003 visit with Paul rather extensively (beginning here and continuing for about 16 consecutive entries until this one).
Hey Perry,

I wish you a Happy New Year and hope the "best" is yet to come for you. Keep blogging and I'll keep checking in on you. I appreciate the numerous "software tips" you provide in your blog. You have directed me to several I now use to make my cyber-life simpler. How's the book coming along? I look forward to publication day. Again, Happy New Year!

That was a dramatic clip! The music kind of makes it, IMO. Imagine the same clip set to 76 Trombones. :)

Good point, Daryl.

I don't know if you've ever been in my house, and if not, we'll have amend that soon, but in one section of my so-called great room I have a Sistine Chapel like ceiling that is at least two floors tall and slants toward a peak. In order to paint that, I'm going to have to rent scaffolding. Maybe I'll try lying on my back, just to appreciate a bit better the magnitude of the accomplishment. Working atop the scaffolding isn't something I'm looking forward to, but maybe it will be a snap. Yeah, and maybe I'll run away and join the circus or win the lottery without buying a ticket.

Worse things have been done to commemorate beautiful things than painting ceilings. Just ask Michelangelo. (I don't have to believe in the reality of the beautiful things to appreciate them.)

I have updated the post with links to both the Twitter feed for news about Paul and to the Gmail help that explains how to use the "plus workaround" to overcome the hurdle of using the same email address for multiple accounts. Now if I can only make sure that I always tweet to the right account!

Daryl, I've just read the terms of service which are in plain English rather than legalese. I see no mention, at all, of multiple accounts. Perhaps you are limited only by the number of email addresses you have. I'd be interested in whether you see anything in the terms of service that you think bears on multiple accounts.

Thanks, Daryl, for that clarification.

I have just attempted to log out of my Twitter account and create a new one, however when I entered my email address, I received an error that my email address had "already been taken." I know lots of people have more than one, so either a large number of us are "living outside the law" or Twitter condones it or at the very least tolerates it.

I appreciate the pointer to Twhirl. I'll check it out.
